Dr. Karnish, DDS, MDS
Dr. Sarah Wallis Karnish, DDS, MDS is a native of Ardmore, Oklahoma and is thrilled to be serving Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas. She has provided pediatric dental care in Shawnee Oklahoma at her private practice Shawnee Pediatric Dentistry for the past several years and is excited to also be able to offer pediatric dental care now in Midtown!
Dr. Karnish obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University. She practiced as a registered dental hygienist for several years before returning to dental school and obtaining her doctoral degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry (where she teaches as a clinical professor in both the predoctoral and residency program).
After dental school, Dr. Karnish (affectionately known as Dr. Sarah to her patients) completed a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis, Tennessee.
During her time there, Dr. Karnish served as the Chief Resident of the program and received a Master of Dental Science degree. She not only treated children at the UT pediatric dental clinic but was also afforded the opportunity to provide care at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
She received intensive training on child development, behavior management, restorative and preventive dentistry, craniofacial anomalies, trauma management, conscious oral sedation dentistry, dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia, special needs management, as well as interceptive orthodontics.
Dr. Karnish is board certified through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She has obtained her Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Conscious Sedation certificates and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Oklahoma Dental Association.
She and her husband, Kyle, enjoy spending time with their family (including their daughters and three fur babies), traveling and cheering on the OKC Thunder and Oklahoma State Cowboys (and the Sooners when they aren’t playing her alma mater!).
